Club Volleyball 2021

It's finally here!  The volleyball season is expected to begin on January 4th.

Teams will be notified individually of their practice times and event schedules later this week.  We have had to adjust schedules many times to accommodate all of the change, but we are still scheduled to begin practices this week and competition will begin as soon as it is allowed.  We have events scheduled and many have been cancelled due to the delayed start, but we will do our best to arrange as many events as possible  given the challenges that we face.

The first week of the season, our schedules will need to be different than the rest of the year, as we work through the process of evaluating and placing players on teams.  12s, 13s, 14s and 17s only have one team each, so no further player evaluations are required.  15s and 16s have multiple teams and evaluations will be done the first week of the season to determine team placement.  ALL 15s and 16s will practice on Monday and Wednesday during the first week, with 15s practicing from 5:30 - 7:30pm and 16s practicing from 7:30 - 9:30 pm.   All 15s and 16s will meet and play again on Friday, January 8th at 5:30 pm and teams will be announced prior to starting play.

New Brighton Community Center is working through some final scheduling changes this week.  Due to the recently announced pause, new programming at the community center has forced them to consider changes to our schedule and we are waiting for decisions to be made that affect our gym times.  Once we are able to announce schedules we will, but the situation is still very fluid as decisions by state government impact everyone who relies upon the community center.  We hope to publish schedules later this week.

Thank you all for your patience.  We look forward to getting this season started on January 4th!

What We Do Here

Northern Impact Volleyball Club has changed over the past 10 years.  We have changed names (formerly Moundsview Volleyball Club,) we have changed directors, we have changed our value and mission, and we have grown - A LOT!

There's a reason we have more teams, have expanded our age reach and geographic boundaries, and win more.  It's because we have worked hard and listened to feedback.  We went all in on getting better, took risks and accepted that it wouldn't always be pretty. Just like our players learn through our Train Ugly lessons on growth mindset.

That's how you get better at volleyball, better at running a volleyball club, or learn to do anything.  If you haven't already done so, please take a look at our Mission and Vision and let us know what you think.  It's written in HTML, not stone, so we can make it better, if we want.

We want all of our players and families to commit to making this club the best it can be.  We won't accept mediocrity or lack of effort and that's the commitment we are going to demand from each of you.  We also know that we can't make everyone happy all the time, so we are going to shoot for doing the best we can.  It's what we expect of our players, so it's what we can aim for too.

We are here to help our players get better - both on and off the court. It's what we do!

Sports Engine App

The Sports Engine mobile app should be downloaded, if it's not already on both parent and player phones. The Getting Started Guide contains very helpful information on the Sports Engine app, including:

  • installing the Sports Engine app
  • Logging into the app
  • Following your team (or teams)
  • Updating notification settings
  • Subscribing to the team calendar (if you use a calendar on your smartphone, the team calendar can be synced to your smartphone calendar)

This app will be very important during the season to keep informed of schedules, games, news, player and coach rosters, and much more!  As the season is just beginning, you may have new faces on the team.  The app contains a roster of both players and coaches, including photos.  As the season progresses, results and stats will be added for matches played.
