Pre-Tryout Open Gyms

Open Gym

More gym time is always a good thing and Northern Impact is prepping for tryout season by offering several options for open gym.  These sessions are really offered in two different formats.

Due to MSHSL rules, high school players (players on varsity, JV or B-Squad rosters) are not allowed to participate in training until their high school season is complete.  As a result, our open gyms for high school athletes do not begin until November.  We will not offer coaching assistance to athletes still in their high school seasons and will recommend that they don't even participate until their seasons are completed.

For younger athletes (4th-9th graders) our open gyms will incorporate some drill opportunities along with semi-organized game play.  We have two courts and may split players by ability or offer training on one court, while game play is occurring on the other.  The format is lightly structured depending upon attendance.

Cost will be $5/player due at the door.  Pre-registration is appreciated, to simplify tracking and enable us to collect contact information.  Register in-advance here.

Dates and times may be modified, but currently they are:

  • Tuesday, October 19th from 6-8 pm. (4th-9th grade)
  • Thursday, October 21st from 6-8 pm. (4th-9th grade)
  • Monday, November 1st from 6-8 pm. (4th-9th grade)
  • Wednesday, November 3rd from 6-8 pm. (9th-12th graders NOT STILL PLAYING HIGH SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL)
  • Tuesday, November 9th from 6-8 pm.  (9th-12th graders NOT STILL PLAYING HIGH SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL)
  • Thursday, November 11th from 6-8 pm.  (9th-12th graders NOT STILL PLAYING HIGH SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL)

What We Do Here

Northern Impact Volleyball Club has changed over the past 10 years.  We have changed names (formerly Moundsview Volleyball Club,) we have changed directors, we have changed our value and mission, and we have grown - A LOT!

There's a reason we have more teams, have expanded our age reach and geographic boundaries, and win more.  It's because we have worked hard and listened to feedback.  We went all in on getting better, took risks and accepted that it wouldn't always be pretty. Just like our players learn through our Train Ugly lessons on growth mindset.

That's how you get better at volleyball, better at running a volleyball club, or learn to do anything.  If you haven't already done so, please take a look at our Mission and Vision and let us know what you think.  It's written in HTML, not stone, so we can make it better, if we want.

We want all of our players and families to commit to making this club the best it can be.  We won't accept mediocrity or lack of effort and that's the commitment we are going to demand from each of you.  We also know that we can't make everyone happy all the time, so we are going to shoot for doing the best we can.  It's what we expect of our players, so it's what we can aim for too.

We are here to help our players get better - both on and off the court. It's what we do!

Sports Engine App

The Sports Engine mobile app should be downloaded, if it's not already on both parent and player phones. The Getting Started Guide contains very helpful information on the Sports Engine app, including:

  • installing the Sports Engine app
  • Logging into the app
  • Following your team (or teams)
  • Updating notification settings
  • Subscribing to the team calendar (if you use a calendar on your smartphone, the team calendar can be synced to your smartphone calendar)

This app will be very important during the season to keep informed of schedules, games, news, player and coach rosters, and much more!  As the season is just beginning, you may have new faces on the team.  The app contains a roster of both players and coaches, including photos.  As the season progresses, results and stats will be added for matches played.

NIVB Spirit Wear Store

Calling all Northern Impact Superfans! Gear up for the season with your own spirit wear from our Spirit Wear store.  There are lots of options to choose from. The fan store is for parents and other supporters to wear and show your team spirit.  The items will be shipped in time for Christmas and directly to your home.

The store closes Nov 15.
